About the Wyoming Rugby Alumni Foundation

We’re supporting young men in Wyoming through rugby and creating lasting bonds among Alumni.

About the Alumni Foundation

The Wyoming Rugby Alumni Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization established to continue to support the club at the collegiate level and rugby as a vehicle to support and empower the development of young men in Wyoming to impact society positively.

The Foundation’s mission is to foster a camaraderie among all Alumni,  practice an enduring interest in the University of Wyoming, offer unwavering support to the institution’s endeavors, and empower Wyoming Alumni as they embark on their path beyond the college campus.

The Foundation wholeheartedly encourages all Alumni to maintain bonds and embrace the myriad opportunities it provides to reconnect with fellow Alumni and engage with the present generation of Wyoming Rugby young men. In doing so, the Association perpetuates the legacy of establishing rapport with future Alumni while inspiring them to seize the full potential of their Wyoming rugby experience.

About The Team

The University of Wyoming Rugby Team was founded in 1972, born from the passion and dedication of a group of students eager to bring the sport to UW. From these humble beginnings, the club has grown into a powerful presence on campus, not only as a competitive sports team but also as a cornerstone of camaraderie and resilience.

Over the years, the team has gained recognition in collegiate rugby, now competing in the esteemed D1A Rocky Mountain Conference. Known for their grit and commitment, UW Rugby has achieved significant success on both regional and national stages. In 2000, the team made history as National Championship runners-up, solidifying its reputation in the 15’s category. Additionally, the program has seen three of its teams reach the National Final Four, while eight have made it to the Sweet 16—a testament to the team’s consistent dedication and skill..

In recent years, UW Rugby has continued to push the boundaries of the sport, particularly in the 7’s category, representing the Rocky Mountain Conference at the National Championships in both 2016 and 2017. Individual players have also earned prestigious honors, including five USA Eagles selections and nineteen All-Americans in 15’s, with two players invited to the Olympic Training Center in San Diego.

More than just a sports team, UW Rugby has fostered a community of Wyoming students—from within the state and beyond—who share a love for competition, teamwork, and the transformative power of rugby. Through rigorous training and an unwavering commitment to excellence, UW Rugby has cultivated a legacy of resilience, sportsmanship, and lifelong connections that extend beyond the field.
